10 Must-See Music Festivals in the Fall

Groove to the music at one of the many music festivals happening across the country this fall. This is the time to take advantage of the cooler temps and holiday festivities with some good ol’ live music at an affordable price. Here are 10 must-see music festivals in the fall:
- North Coast Music Festival
(September 3-5)
The North Coast Music Festival is a brand new festival that took place in Chicago’s Union Park on Labor Day weekend. Eclectic sounds can be heard at this festival that strives to merge different genres of music. Pretty Lights, Moby and Lupe Fiasco are just a few of the acts that rocked the house this year. - Bumbershoot
(September 4-6)
Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music and Art Festival has been entertaining visitors for 40 years with the biggest names in music, film, comedy and visual arts. Bumbershoot has taken the crown as the country’s largest urban arts festival, and although it has already come and gone, you can catch it next Labor Day weekend. - Nocturnal Festival
(September 4, 5 & 25)
Nocturnal Festival is a huge electronic music festival that hosts some of the biggest names in the techno, dance and house music genres. Until recently, Nocturnal has only taken place in Southern California, but this year it expanded to Apache Pass Event Center in Downtown, Texas, for a two-night show September 4-5. The original concert takes place in San Bernadino, California, on September 25. - Musicfest Northwest

Portland’s MusicfestNW is one of the largest indoor music festivals in the country, and considered one of the most exciting live music experiences ever. MusicfestNW is going on its 10th year and adding an outdoor venue for increased attendance and visibility of this year’s acts, including The Smashing Pumpkins, The Decemberists and Black Lips. - Austin City Limits
(October 8-10)
Austin isn’t called the “Live Music Capital of the World” for nothing. Austin City Limits Music Festival is one of the largest music festivals in the fall, with more than 130 artists performing on 46 acres in Zilker Park. This three-day event hosts up-and-coming artists and big name performers like this year’s headliners: The Eagles, Muse, The Strokes and Phish. - Treasure Island
(October 16-17)
The Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco is goldmine for live music. This year marks the third annual Treasure Island show, featuring LCD Soundsystem, Belle & Sebastian, Deadmau5 and other popular acts. - CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival
(October 19-23)
CMJ Marathon takes place in New York City and is one of the largest festivals for live music, with more than 1,200 performers from around the world. CMJ Marathon music performances and film showcases can be seen in more than 75 venues around Manhattan and Brooklyn. This five-day-long festival is a must-see for its extensive collection of music and cutting-edge films. - Voodoo Experience
(October 29-31)
The Voodoo Experience is an annual music and arts festival held in none other than The Big Easy on Halloween weekend. This year marks New Orleans’ 11th Voodoo Experience, with big name performers Ozzy Osbourne, Muse, Weezer and Drake taking the stage. - Fun Fun Fun Fest
(November 5-7)
If you miss ACL or just can’t get enough of Austin, check out the city’s fifth annual Fun Fun Fun Fest in November. This indie-rock festival takes place in Waterloo Park and offers an eclectic mix of music at a killer price. - Bear Creek Down By The River
(November 12-14)
Get a taste of the great outdoors and live music at The Bear Creek Music and Art Festival. This three-day event includes music, art and camping in Live Oak, Florida, along the banks of the Suwannee River.
